geekend

Most of the time I like to have a weekend, but, based on the friends that I have, sometimes a weekend turns into a geekend. I'm not talking about computer programming and playing with electronics. Those activities have been known to happen, although what I am referring to is just generally havingfunness that doesn't require any special equipment, other than maybe stuff from Ikea. We were lucky enough to capture some images of our most recent geekend on compact flash cards! Here are a few of the results:

In this first picture notice the incredible focus that all the geeks have on Janice, who is discussing and demonstrating a shelf. I would look up the name of the shelf, so that I can give silly Swedish wordmeisters credit where it is due, but it's too late for that. Also notice the time... this is not in the afternoon. You are witnessing an alert bunch of geeks experiencing Midnight Madness at Ikea!

A Group Demo

Next is a science experiment in both colour and style. Notice how the hat which is not really a hat filters the flourescent light onto Linda's face and makes her look quite jaundice. Despite the unhealthy appearance of her skin (which is really just an illusion) she still has the innocent grin of a happy girl that is unaware of the really silly looking plastic thing on her head. At some point it was removed before the checkout, as I am fairly sure that she is no longer in possession of this most adorable headpiece.

Linda

And as a grand finale to the geekend, observe the final image of my good friend Chris standing on Queen Street. Not only does he have an oversized orange bag from Active Surplus containing a bunch of unmentionably geeky things... stuffed into that bag is also quite unmistakably an Ikea tubular animal! Chris was seen later at union station, and aboard a GO train to Oakville. Even despite his good looks, people could not stop staring at the bag containing the tubular animal. Reports say that the animal is adapting to life on an Ikea couch. The orange bag has been saved and will be used for wrapping gifts.

Chris

And so concludes the geekend.
